At the meeting of the ConstructionSkills board it was decided, despite fierce opposition from the several trade organisations, to cut apprenticeship grants. Previously an employer could claim £9,820 over three years with the possibility of a 25% supplementary grant; this has now been reduced to £9000 over three years and the supplementary has been cut to 10%. This will go into effect as of 1st August 2010. Members should register apprentices before 1st August to receive the existing grant.
