Yorkshire Builder Goes Into Adminisation

North Yorkshire construction firm AW Sinclair and Sons has been put into administration with the potential loss of 97 jobs.

Parent company Quibell Group, which is based in Hull, said the business was “no longer considered viable”.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed as administrator.

A statement by PwC is expected about the future of the firm and its staff.

Quibell finance director Steve Jones blamed the collapse on the economic downturn and specifically poor conditions for work in Scarborough and North Yorkshire.

He said: “The directors would like to place on record their thanks to all of Sinclair’s employees, past and present, for their outstanding drive, passion and commitment that has been a testament to the character of Scarborough and its people.”
